Withrow Park Farmers’ Market is entering its 15th season with a bold, fresh look. Over the winter, the board of directors collaborated on a new definition and mission to chart the market’s course. Our vision is a local sustainable economy that strengthens community connection and environmental stewardship. To that end, our mission is to be a well-run, financially secure and community-supported group that provides a platform for environmental and community initiatives, built around an inclusive farmers’ market of ecological farmers, food artisans and artists.

With those values in mind, we worked with Danielle Lewis Designs, a local designer, to develop our new logo. Its bright colours reflect natural elements water, soil and fresh produce — and bring a modern sensibility. To us, the wheelbarrow is a symbol of inclusiveness that represents the community working together, nourishing and flourishing.

Behind this romantic vision is the reality of Saturday mornings in Withrow Park — volunteers and vendors hauling load after load of fresh food, tents, tables and supplies into the park to make the market magic happen, and patrons hauling home loads of fresh produce and locally produced goods.

You’ll also notice a swirl of our four colours incorporated into the “O” of Withrow. We wanted aelement that reflected our commitment to sustainability, including our zero-waste initiatives, which Danielle creatively achieved by incorporating the circular graphic.

We hope you’ll agree this design captures the market’s spirit — and hopefully so much so that you’d like to help us share it. Market merchandise bearing our new logo will be available to order, made by local artisan Stephanie Clayton of Clayton’s Customs. Market Merch will be available on our online storefront starting Sunday, May 30th. In-person purchases will also be possible on Saturdays at the Market’s entrance.

About Stephanie Clayton
Stephanie Clayton is the young entrepreneur behind Clayton’s Customs. As an immunocompromised person, Stephanie was having an especially difficult time finding safe work at the onset of the pandemic. She used her creativity to design her own “Eastender” logo craftily adorned with the CN tower and started her own business selling branded products.
